Combustion Science Lab Kit by Megan

The Combustion Science Lab Kit is a giant kit of different supplies for experiments. There are 25 different hands-on experiments you can do with all the equipment it has. I wish I could have the time to do all of the experiments because they look so much fun and educational.

The kit came in a big box that had fun pictures. The box itself looked fun. When I opened the box the important materials like: sodium bicarbonate, salt, citric acid, itron powder, and red and green food coloring were in sealed, safe bottles. The bottles were in a secured bag. The other supplies: goggles, measuring cups (came with lids), funnel, round plastic container, colored paper sheets, stickers for the rocket experiment, rectangular plastic container, filter paper, balloons, plastic spatula, pasteur pipettes, wooden spatulas, plastic bags, plastic test tube, candle, and gloves. All these items were also in a secured bag. All of the items were there, nothing was missing. Also nothing was broken.

The kit came with a lab guide of the 25 experiments. Each experiment had the items that you need. And it had all the steps in how to do the experiment. At the end of each experiment it had an explanation on how it worked and the science behind it. In the beginning of the guide, it has a table of contents which were very helpful for me. It was much easier to look there and find an experiment I wanted to do. Pages 6-15 has scientific information about the experiments. It explains in more detail what exactly is happening. Those pages are very important and can help someone to understand more clearly if they didn’t know.

My sister and I did three of the easier experiments to try them out. Doing the experiments with at least another person would be helpful, it was very helpful for me with my sister to help me. One of the experiments that we did was called Lemon Foam. The items we needed were: rectangular plastic container, large and small measuring cups, dish soap, food coloring, plastic and wooden spatula, pasteur pipette, sodium bicarbonate, and a lemon. The steps were very easy to follow. We did exactly what the directions told us to do. The experiment was a success and we had this whitish foam form. It was really cool and fun to do.

The pros and cons for this product would be: Pros- 1) The materials they gave you are easily reusable after they have been washed. 2) This kit would be an excellent choice to teach young kids the basics of science. The experiments were fun and easy, perfect for kids. Cons- 1) Most of the experiments call for specific items that you might not have around the house. If you don’t have those items for the experiments you would not be able to do it.

Overall, the Combustion Science Lab Kit is a fun, exciting way to do experiments with science. I think younger kids would enjoy this very much. The experiments are not too difficult or challenging. It’s a great way to teach kids about science.
