Native Union’s DOCK Lightning is a minimalist aluminum and silicone charging dock designed to hold and charge a Lightning-based iPhone. The dock is just under a pound, about 12.6 ounces. It is heavy duty and doesn’t move once placed in its desired location.
The dock is packaged in a secure black box and is surrounded by a protective layer of paper. The shipping time for me was approximately a week but it could be less or more depending on your location. It is shipped in three parts and includes a charger that is fit for the product. The assembly is quite easy and only takes a minute to complete. The tongue of the dock that sticks out the top is made of an aluminum material and is inserted at the top of the silicone base. The cord of the charger comes up through the hole in the base and a small clip attaches to it to hold your device and cord in place. A small grove in the back allows the end of the cord to sit in so that the dock is held flat and stays level. The cord included is made to match whatever dock you purchase and there are two color options for your dock. This is not like those other junky iPhone chargers that are made of rubber. This charger is wound by a rope like material. The cord sent is a three foot cord but other longer charging cords can be purchased to fit the dock.
Because of the dock’s unique design, it can hold a phone with or without a case. This is nice because you don’t have to remove the case everytime you want to charge. It charges just like any charger does, but, you don’t have to continually lay your phone down, it stands up for quick, easy use. It is also strong enough to hold iPads, iPad minis and a lot of other Apple products that use a lightning port.
Native union is making some of the most attractive Apple accessories around. The DOCK lightning is just an example. Although the price is a bit higher that to be desired ($50), it is certainly worth the money. It may seem high, but it is in the range and maybe lower that a lot of competing companies and products. Both the nice materials and the ability to accommodate various iPhone cases makes the sharp, sturdy DOCK Lightning one of the best iOS charging dock options in recent years, earning a high recommendation.
