The Bible forms the foundation of the school (Preschool - High School).
Instruction from the Bible is incorporated in all subject areas.
Because "learning to learn" is an acquired skill that must
be developed early, the early learning center at N.C.S. provides
preschool students of varied ages the opportunity to learn together
and separately in a prepared environment. Each child, no matter the
age, has a separate timetable for learning. An environment has been
established where the child will learn by "doing" within
the child's timetable. Manipulative "jobs" fill the prepared
environment and are designed to help the child in learning a skill or
concept. Our goal is to establish an environment where the child will
enjoy learning.

Mrs. Gretchen Brosius
provided the leadership for the establishment of our preschool. Miss
Gretchen operated a preschool in her home for 18 years before joining
Northumberland Christian School. She obtained her BS and MS Ed. in
Elementary Education from Bloomsburg University and completed the
Montessori training program at the Montessori Children's House in
Bloomsburg. |

Adrienne Breed
(NCS '94) holds a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Development and a
minor in Sociology from Penn State University

Christine L. Hunt
holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Widener University as well as
an Associates degree in Arts & Sciences from Penn State University.

| Sessions |
Sessions are conducted from 8:30-11:00 a.m. Monday through Friday and 12:15 - 2:45 p.m. Monday through Thursday. The preschool is located at 351 5th Street in the facility of Northumberland Christian School.

| Generally, children should be at least 3 years of age and toilet trained to attend. |
