New Playground Groundbreaking |
The students in grades K-6 were part of a very special event on Wednesday, May 11th.
The school held a groundbreaking ceremony for the new playground which will be installed by volunteers this summer.
The plans for a playground began in 2006, but it wasn’t until 2010, when the school received a grant from the S.
Luther Savidge Charitable Foundation, that the idea started to move ahead. Then, with the first Warrior Walk-a-thon,
which raised over $30,000, the fund goal for the playground was met. Marc Thayer, an NCS Board member, worked closely
with Ashley Bower from Playworld Systems to design a playground specifically for NCS. Scott Heintzelman and Gretchen
Brosius from the Foundation were at the ceremony, as well as Ashley Bower and Michael Bordner from Playworld Systems.
Five students also participated in the groundbreaking. These were the K-6 grade students who submitted the most sponsor
names for the Walk-a-thon. They were: Hannah Nelson, Zander Beaver, Jacob Furman, Emma Heid, and Kyle Wesner. We thank
God for providing the funds needed through the generosity of so many family and friends of NCS. To God be the glory!
Check out the school’s website through the summer to see the progress of the playground project!
